  4. Visually inspect and gently wiggle connectors and wiring from steering column to ABS/ESP and gateway while observing live data for intermittent changes.
  5. Measure sensor supply and ground at connector; compare to specified values. Repair any power/ground issues before replacing modules.
  6. If wiring and power are good but data is implausible or missing, perform steering angle sensor basic setting/zero-point calibration per factory procedure using the diagnostic tool.
  7. If calibration fails or values remain incorrect, swap/connect a known-good steering angle sensor or steering column module (if available) to confirm sensor vs module fault.
  8. If a module was recently replaced or software updated, verify coding and software versions; re-flash or correct coding per manufacturer guidance.
  9. Clear codes and perform test drive to confirm fault does not return. If fault persists, escalate to module replacement or CAN network repair as indicated.
  10. Safety: follow airbag/steering column service precautions (battery disconnect protocols and clock spring handling) and use proper diagnostic equipment.
