  3. Visually inspect sensor, steering column area, and harness for damage, rubbing, pinched wires, or contamination. Repair visible wiring damage.
  4. Measure power and ground at the SAS connector with key on; compare to spec. Repair open/poor power or ground connections.
  5. Check CAN bus signals at a known-good point with a multimeter and, if available, oscilloscope. Look for correct idle voltages, differential waveform, and absence of excessive noise or bus shorts.
  6. Perform connector cleaning and reseating. Replace damaged terminals or harness pigtails as needed.
  7. If wiring and bus are good, attempt SAS self-test/calibration using OEM scan tool. Calibrate/learn steering angle sensor per manufacturer procedure.
  8. If calibration fails or values remain out-of-range, bench-test or replace the steering angle sensor. Verify correct sensor part and programming requirements before replacement.
  9. After repair or replacement, clear codes, perform required calibrations, then road test and re-scan to ensure code does not return.
