  2. Confirm vehicle battery is charged and stable (12.4–12.8 V at rest, >13.5 V with engine running).
  3. Attempt to communicate directly with Seat Control Module D via the scan tool. If no communication, suspect power/ground/wiring or module failure.
  4. Inspect and reconnect seat module connectors; check for bent pins, corrosion or water entry. Repair or replace damaged connectors.
  5. Check module power and ground circuits at the connector (voltage, continuity to battery and chassis ground). Repair any faults.
  6. Verify CAN bus integrity: measure termination resistance, and if available use an oscilloscope to view CAN_H and CAN_L for proper differential signals and no excessive noise.
  7. Monitor live CAN traffic: confirm the seat module transmits correct periodic frames and that checksum/format appears valid. If messages are malformed, suspect the module.
  8. If wiring and physical layer are good but invalid data persists, check for recent software updates or recalls; reprogram or reflashes the seat module to the latest calibration per manufacturer procedure.
  9. If reprogramming fails or module still sends invalid data, replace the seat control module and verify that all related modules accept the new unit and that the code does not return.
  10. Clear DTCs and perform a road test / function test to confirm repair. Re-scan to ensure no recurrence.
