  2. Verify vehicle data: Confirm VIN, model, year and recorded gateway part number. Compare gateway SW/Calibration ID to the expected values for that VIN using OEM service data.
  3. Check history: Ask technician/owner about recent module replacements, reflashes, or battery events. Review diagnostic tool programming logs for aborted or failed updates.
  4. Electrical baseline: Ensure battery is fully charged or connect a battery maintainer. Verify stable supply voltage at gateway connector during diagnostics.
  5. Network health: Perform a vehicle network scan. Note any non‑responsive modules or other communication DTCs (U0100, U0121, U0140, etc.). Repair wiring/connectors if physical faults found.
  6. Compare calibrations: Read SW/calibration IDs from gateway and other major modules (BCM, ECM, TCM, ABS). If mismatched groups are present, identify required calibration pack or software level.
  7. Reprogram: If incorrect or incomplete software is confirmed, reflash the gateway with the correct OEM software using the manufacturer’s programming tool (SDP+/IDS or equivalent). Follow JLR programming procedure exactly and ensure stable battery voltage.
  8. Post‑flash checks: Re-run network scan, verify each module reports expected software IDs, clear codes and test drive to ensure no reoccurrence.
  9. If reflash fails: Try reprogramming using alternate known-good tool/computer and verify network wiring. If gateway will not accept correct software or hardware shows signs of failure, consider replacement with correct part and then program to vehicle VIN.
  10. Documentation: Log all steps, software versions applied, and any replaced parts. Re-check for TSBs and update owner/service records.
