What to check

Diagnostic algorithm

Record all stored DTCs and freeze frame data. Note vehicle history: recent module replacement or software update.
Verify vehicle battery is charged and stable. Connect a battery conditioner if recommended by OEM.
Using an OEM-capable scan tool, read the affected module's identification data: CAL ID, SW PN, VIN, and serial number. Note any missing/blank values.
Inspect connectors and wiring to the module. Repair any physical or power/ground faults before attempting reprogramming.
Check for related network communication faults (U0100, U0401, etc.). If bus errors exist, repair network faults first.
If CAL ID is missing or incorrect and wiring/power are good, obtain the correct calibration file from OEM and reprogram the module per manufacturer procedure. Ensure security authorization (immobilizer/ECU lock) is handled if required.
If programming fails repeatedly or the module reports corrupted flash, attempt a recover/reflash procedure per OEM service information. If recovery is not possible, module replacement may be required.
