Right Head Lamp(High Beam) Circuit Open

Causes
- Burned-out or disconnected right high-beam bulb
- Corroded or loose headlamp connector or socket
- Open or damaged wiring between lamp and control module
- Blown fuse or faulty relay for headlamp/high-beam circuit
- Poor or missing ground at headlamp assembly
- Faulty body control module (BCM) or headlamp control module
Symptoms
- Right high beam does not illuminate while left high beam works
- Dashboard high-beam indicator may behave normally or show a fault
- Reduced night visibility on the right side
- Related DTC(s) stored and possibly a warning message
What to check
- Scan vehicle to confirm DTC B2545 and view freeze-frame / related codes
- Visually inspect right headlamp, bulb, connector and wiring for damage or corrosion
- Check related fuses and headlamp relay
- Operate high beams and measure voltage at the headlamp connector
- Perform continuity/ohms check between lamp connector and control module pin
- Inspect and test ground at headlamp assembly
Signal parameters
- Voltage at headlamp connector with high beam ON: ~11–14 V (battery voltage)
- Voltage with high beam OFF: ~0 V (or near 0 V depending on circuit design)
- High-beam filament resistance (halogen): typically low ohms (approx. 0.5–5 Ω) — check bulb specs
- Expected current draw for halogen high beam: roughly 2–8 A (varies by bulb type)
- Continuity between lamp connector and BCM pin: near 0 Ω (open = infinite Ω)
Diagnostic algorithm
- Use a scan tool: read & record DTCs and freeze-frame data. Clear codes and see if B2545 returns.
- Turn off ignition and visually inspect the right headlamp bulb, socket and wiring for obvious damage, corrosion, or detached connectors. Replace bulb if visibly failed.
- With assistant switching high beams ON, back-probe the headlamp connector and measure voltage. If ~12 V present at connector and bulb is good, suspect poor connection at bulb or ground.
- If no voltage at connector when commanded ON, check in-line fuse(s) and headlamp relay. Verify relay operation and voltage at both sides of the relay when commanded.
- Perform continuity test from the headlamp connector hot pin back to the control module pin with ignition OFF. An open indicates a wiring break; repair wiring or connector as required.
- Check ground continuity from headlamp ground terminal to chassis/ECU ground. Repair any high-resistance grounds.
- If wiring and connectors are good and proper voltages are present but lamp still fails, replace the lamp/assembly. If problem persists after replacing lamp and repairing wiring, suspect BCM/headlamp control module and consult manufacturer procedures before replacement.
- After repairs, clear codes, re-test high beam operation and road/test as required to verify the fault is resolved.
Likely causes
- Failed high-beam bulb filament or lamp assembly
- Loose/corroded connector or broken wire at the lamp
- Blown fuse or failed headlamp relay
- Open/short in the wiring harness or damaged ground
- Control module fault (less common after wiring verified)
Fault status
Status
Right Head Lamp (High Beam) Circuit Open — control module detects an open circuit or no load on the right high-beam output. Inspect bulb, connectors, fuses/relay, wiring and ground before considering module replacement.
Repair difficulty: Medium
Diagnostic time: 0.5-2.0 hours
