  1. Connect an OEM-calibrated scan tool. Read and record DTC B2881 and any additional codes or freeze frame data.
  2. Clear codes and attempt to reproduce the fault by placing a compatible device on the pad. Note if code returns and under what conditions.
  3. Visually inspect pad surface and surrounding area for debris, metal objects, liquid, or damage. Clean pad and retest.
  4. Inspect wiring harness and connectors for corrosion, damage, pin push-out, or moisture. Repair or secure connections as needed.
  5. Check relevant fuses for continuity; replace any blown fuses and retest.
  6. Measure supply voltage and ground at the module connector with key on. Confirm voltage is within expected range and ground is good.
  7. Check pad coil continuity/inductance per service specification. Replace pad or repair wiring if open/short or out-of-spec.
  8. Monitor module communication on CAN/LIN bus with a scan tool. If no communication, trace bus wiring and check terminations.
  9. If hardware and wiring are good but fault persists, check for module firmware updates or known service bulletins; reprogram or reset module if directed by OEM procedures.
  10. If diagnostic steps isolate the fault to the module (internal fault, repeating faults after good wiring and updated software), replace the wireless charging module and re-initialize/calibrate per manufacturer instructions.
  11. After repair, erase codes and verify operation through full functional test and road/test area reproduction, ensuring no recurrence.
