- Perform valve body and pressure tests: measure line pressure and apply specific tests for internal leaks or spool sticking as per service manual.
- If hydraulic and solenoid tests are normal, suspect internal mechanical wear (clutch pack, band, planetary components) — consider transmission removal and disassembly or specialist inspection.
- Check for TCM software updates, reset adaptations and reflash if recommended by manufacturer; retest after software action.
- After repairs, erase codes, re-run road test and confirm the gear ratio is within specification and no further P0734 sets.
